This paper summarizes the recent history of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ukraine, focusing on how Church leaders, both local and general, and Ukrainian members have responded to the ongoing conflict in that country. In this paper, I explore the conversion stories of several Church members from eastern Ukraine, who served in various callings and are now experiencing the war as they continue to serve in leadership roles. These primary sources document first-hand experiences pertaining to their Church membership, and how it has sustained them through the war which has forced many to leave their homes. The role of missionaries and leaders is also explored. Several local leaders highlight the role the Church has played in helping Ukrainians, members and nonmembers alike, either relocate across the country or leave its borders entirely. Interviewees divulge how they view the relationship between those of Russian descent and those of Ukrainian descent, highlight the importance of the temple and covenants, and emphasize the value of their faith in their lives.
