In the shadow of the 2021-2023 global energy crisis, the need for alternative sources of energy has reached an all time high. To combat this, we have developed a prototype method of harvesting kinetic energy from a door swing, converting that energy into electricity, and storing it inside a battery for future use. Our experiments have demonstrated the capability to use the energy from one door to charge a cellular phone, but we believe this method could be applied on a much larger scale. In this poster we will discuss the method, design, and measurements from our device, as well as possible future applications.
