The Cathedral of the Madeline began construction in the year 1900 and was completed by 1909, designed by architects Carl M Newhausen and Bernard O. Mecklenburg. The Cathedral is primarily Neo Romanesque architecture on the exterior while emphasizing a Spanish Gothic interior with colorful murals and ornate shrines. Having the opportunity to measure the building followed by autocad drawings and digital water coloring provided me with confidence in the architects intentions. The Roman Cathlic church was built for religious practices and today it still serves the catholic church, home to the only co-educational Catholic choir school in the U.S. The Madeleine Choir holds over 400 students today providing years of service for the community of Salt Lake City.
