The purpose of this piece was to study the historical buildings in the surrounding areas of Utah Valley. This was to help inform of us of classical design principles in the local architecture making it both more personable as well as more accessible to be able to physically be on site. Being on the site allowed for the opportunity to measure the buildings as well as being able to visually see how certain local buildings and cultures affected the buildings to be built they way they were. I selected South Worth Hall located in Provo, Utah. This building has personal significance to me and allowed me to be able to study local architecture that is prone to being destroyed or demolished. Many historical buildings in Utah are being taken down and replaced with either newer buildings or housing, neglecting our past. The biggest reason I drew this building is after discovering that the building had survived a fire I wanted to preserve the historical details if for whatever reason a natural disaster were to destroy the building. This would allow some record of the building if it were to be rebuilt.
