This study examines the economic impact of major sporting events in the Dallas, Fortworth area. A linear regression model is used to find the impact of each independent variable sporting effect on the dependent variable of sales tax revenue. We examine regional, county, and city levels while also controlling for month and year fixed effects. Our paper suggests that major sporting events do not impact the sales tax revenue of the Dallas, Fort Worth area and even suggests that these major sporting events may hinder sales tax revenue in special cases.
