Teachers and parents frequently voice concerns about overly anxious children. Research indicates that approximately 20% of children struggle with anxiety. This presentation provides a brief overview of common challenges and research-based interventions intended to help children manage anxious feelings. In this presentation we will also provide samples of anxiety-themed children’s books and lesson plans geared to assist children. Additionally, we will discuss anxiety-themed therapeutic activities and recommended resources. We aim to provide helpful information and resources to school-based mental health counselors, general and special educators and parents that will strengthen and support anxious children across settings.
