Conservation efforts in Utah are hindered by a lack of research into our ecosystems. We tested various treatments that have shown to increase the rate of seed germination in other species on Utah native shrubs to identify which ones work on those species best. 10 species seeds will be subjected to 7 different treatments over the course of 6 months to determine which treatment is most appropriate for each species. This project will increase the information we have into Utah plant ecosystems and improve our ability to grow these plants from seed for restoration efforts, which improves the long-term resilience of these populations by increasing genetic diversity.
