The long standing relationship that Utah Valley University has had with Capitol Reef National Park has led to the publication of many field guides and papers from undergraduate researchers. However, as of yet, there has been no field guides published on the diversity of the insects that are found there. This project concatenates the past 5 or more years of collection trips done by the invertebrate and entomology UVU undergraduate labs in order to present a well ordered, informative field guide that can be used by novice and expert alike. While there are many aspects of this multidisciplinary project such as illustration, graphic design, and identification, the focus of this poster is to highlight the photography of the insects and how important photography is in making a field guide. Photography not only will help in the identification of species or other taxonomic groups but also provides an appealing overall appearance to the guide that will attract people to it.
