Presentation Guidelines

Poster Presentations
- Poster dimensions: up to 40" tall x 46" wide.
- Posters should not be thicker than standard poster weight (no foam core backing).
- Poster hanging materials (T-pins) will be provided.
- Posters must be readable from three feet away.
- Presenters must be available to discuss their poster during the entire session.
- Poster should include:
- presentation title
- student name
- research advisor name
- school
- department

Oral Presentations
- Presentations will be scheduled into 15 minute blocks: 2 minutes intro/prep, 10 minutes presentation, 3 minutes Q&A. Note: To stay on schedule presentations will not be allowed to go over their allotted time.
- Presentations should include an introduction and use layman terms as opposed to academic jargon.
- Visual aids may be used, if appropriate.
- Projectors and PC's are provided.
- All students must bring a USB flash drive containing their presentation.
- Ensure beforehand that your presentation will display properly on both Mac and PC.
- If you wish to use your own computer, you must provide your own adapter.
- Author Guidelines for Poster and Oral Presentations
- Abstract submissions must:
- Clearly state the central research question and/or purpose of the project.
- Provide brief, relevant scholarly or research context (no actual citations required) that demonstrate its attempt to make a unique contribution to the area of inquiry.
- Provide a brief description of the research methodology.
- State conclusions or expected results and the context in which they will be discussed.
- Include text only (no images or graphics).
- Be well-written and well-organized.
- Other formating guidelines:
- Abstracts should be no more than 400 words in length.
- Have the following information available when submitting your abstract:
- Name and email address for each faculty mentor and co-author.
- Presentation type: Poster or Oral.

Creative Projects
UCUR 2019 will provide an opportunity for performance and display of creative works in Music, Theatre, Dance, Art & Design, Film, and Intermedia.
- Visual Art Presentations (Drawing, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Ceramics)
- Visual arts projects will be displayed with poster presentations. Presenters are expected to stand by their project and explain their intent and process.
- Table and easels will be provided.
- Performances
- Presenters will introduce their work with a 5 minute synopsis of research and intent, creative process, and concluding evaluation and significance to the field.
- Performances must not be more that 10 minutes (15 minutes total including set up/take down of sets).
- Author Guidelines for Creative Submissions
- Abstract submissions must:
- State the central research question or creative intent of the research.
- Provide a brief discussion of the creative process and methodology.
- Evaluate the overall effectiveness of the creative work and significance to the field.
- Be well organized.
- Other formatting guidelines:
- Abstracts should be no more than 400 words in length.
- Have the following information available when submitting your abstract:
- Name and e-mail address for each faculty mentor and co-author.
- Presentation type: Dance, Music, Theatre, Visual Art & Design, Film, Intermedia.
- Names of performers will be submitted upon acceptance of abstract.
- Abstract submissions must:
